2.8 / 5Before there was a flood, my grandmother lived there. When I went to visit, it often smelled of urine, and their floor was all "sticky," most likely soaked in urine as well. Overall, the employees and helpers were kind and pleasant. However, the attendant named "Martine." I didn't like her at all. She behaved/made racist remarks toward her colleagues and the residents. Once, she dared to tell me that "it was over with my grandmother," and that there was nothing more to do. That really made me angry. My grandmother was very nervous by nature, and she used to jump on her to, I imagine, increase her nervousness... What a lack of manners! To you, "my dear Martine," find another job and make way for someone who will show more empathy toward their residents.
My godfather has only been here a short time. He has early-onset Alzheimer's. They've never bothered to ask about his life story. They don't know how to deal with Alzheimer's, let alone early-onset. My godfather is in the hospital following an incident, and when he arrived, his fingernails and toenails were black. He smelled of urine. He often had feces stuck to him, some of which were quite old. (This is under the pretext that he refuses care—he has Alzheimer's, so he shouldn't have a choice.) There are always ways in life to help people who can no longer make decisions for themselves to do what's necessary. But to give a choice to someone who is no longer aware of what's best for them shows a profound lack of understanding of dementia. Please, properly train your staff on dementia and how to interact with people who suffer from it. My godfather deserves to be treated with the same respect as anyone else. Everyone has the right to respect and deep empathy for what they are going through. Working in healthcare, whether as an orderly, registered nurse, or licensed practical nurse, requires empathy and understanding. You must remain calm and adapt to the person in front of you. If you are unable to do this, please don't. A life is in your hands, whether it's for hygiene or care. I apologize for the length of this text, but it's a subject close to my heart, and I hope you will read my comment carefully.
My aunt's dinner was... BBQ fries with chips. We called the social worker and she didn't know. Horrible since the old owner sold
Absolutely nothing to complain about, only positive things to say! The atmosphere is friendly and the staff are very sociable. I highly recommend this manor.
