S.E.C Ambiance IDS

Ambiance is a wonderful apartment building for independent seniors. The entire staff does a great job creating a welcoming and engaging community for all the residents. A wide variety of activities is designed to meet the needs and interests of the diverse population in the building. The management team is highly professional and does a great job setting a good example for their building staff to provide respectful and compassionate service to the residents. From the front desk receptionists to the maintenance and housekeeping staff, we have had nothing but positive experiences over the years. As for the facilities, there is a beautiful library on the top floor with a panoramic view of the city from the balcony. On the first floor, there's a nice full-service dining room, a multi-use activities room, a small gym, a heated swimming pool and sauna, a coffee shop, a hair and nail salon, and a small pharmacy. A large underground parking garage is a nice feature for the long Montreal winters. A shopping plaza right next door, Le Village, offers great convenience with two major supermarkets, two pharmacies, four banks, several restaurants, medical and dental clinics, post office, dry cleaners, and other essential services. Our family's experience with Ambiance has been extremely positive and we highly recommend it!

Fail to protect residents with proactive management and levels of accountability. Particularly with reference to Covid early last year.

Unfortunately, I am only giving a one-star rating to this private residence located on Nuns' Island. My mother lived there for several years. Having noticed certain irregularities, I obtained a legal document to represent her and I ensured regular monitoring until her departure. I suggest that semi-autonomous people who plan to reside there, especially those who demonstrate the beginnings of cognitive loss, count on the help of someone close to them to be present when signing any document in order to read not what is written on the said documents but rather what is not written or what is written between the lines. I deplore, among other things, the fact that when a resident begins to show signs of cognitive problems, a subtle insistence, even bordering on relentlessness, is put in place to direct this clientele to reside in the nursing unit (2nd floor), even though it is clearly stated in the file that the residence is not authorized, by the family or its representative, to accommodate the resident in this care unit because, among other things, of the exorbitant costs. I also bring to the attention of future residents the fact that the CLSC offers FREE medical care to residents of Ambiance (or any other place of residence), including blood tests and daily medication intake, as well as a range of various services, because the medical costs imposed by the services provided by Ambiance staff can significantly increase the amount of the bill. My mother currently lives in a publicly run intermediate care residence where she receives excellent services at a fraction of the amount she would have paid if she had resided in the Ambiance nursing unit. The company's lack of transparency has also been observed in other circumstances. In short, the only positive rating I give is actually for the proximity of services and public transportation, which was much appreciated.

An almost magical place, especially the library with its view of Montreal. Prime location next to the Provigo grocery store and a mini-shopping center. Very friendly staff, interesting restaurant, gardens, decor, and spaces. Very beautiful and safe.
