My mother was nearing the end of her life in December 2021, and no one had warned us. My sister paid her a surprise visit, and she was in a coma with her mouth open and wheezing. The nurse had left for her lunch break. The attendant went to get the nurse, who told my sister, "I'll call you." Whew, my eye.

Hello everyone, thank you so much for your compassion. New saga at the CHSLD (Housing of Thoughts) in Jonquière. As you know, my mother passed away yesterday at 7:04 PM. One of the management staff gave us until 9:30 PM yesterday to empty my mother's room of her belongings, one family member at a time. My mother was still in her bed while two brothers and two sisters emptied the room. Yes, you read that right, she was in her bed. Imagine the sadness and courage that must have taken. This morning, CHSLD staff took all the furniture outside, yes, outside, without packing anything, and two of my brothers loaded the furniture. They were also pressuring my brothers to move quickly. I am truly discouraged by the CHSLD system. I am speechless about the way this institution treats our (living) elders, and when they leave, well, that's what you read. Please share this so that a competent leader can take action. Thank you, Jean
