The building itself is pretty nice but I seriously question if any qualified medical staff work here. What kind of medical team cannot identify a stroke in the elderly? Even when the resident says they don’t feel well? Ultimately the staff chose to put off calling an ambulance for over 12 hrs which meant the strokes side effects could not be reversed and because of the complications from the stroke, the resident would later die in hospital. Absolutely disgusting, pathetic and shameful on the role of the staff here. This place should be investigated.

My Mother was a resident in Vivalis for the last months of her life. She was bedridden. The meals she received were cooked well and if she wished to have a tomato sandwich instead, there was no problem. Her boost drinks and medication were given at the proper times. At the very end of her life, comfort care was just that- comfortable. When I visited she was always smiling or sleeping soundly. The staff needed to feed her, which was a slow process. Some of them even read to her. In the evening she was wrapped in her favorite comforter. I know in my heart I made the right choice.

My father who can barely get out of bed , he was told when he called for water at night that he was was not at a hospital and not to ring . Ok being thirsty is not an emergency but how can you be a nurse with an attitude like that. How can you operate a home for old folks . I find this totally unacceptable and disgusting. So much for 24/7 care .Most likely not all nurses are this uncaring but this one certainly was. Dogs would get better care . Thankfully he's getting transfered to another facility , do yourself for the sake of your loved ones stay away from this place

WORST PLACE Insisted we pay 6000$ for 2 weeks in advance; because of the beautiful building I assumed the service will follow. What a mistake... We put my dad there Dec 2. THE TEAM FORGOT TO GIVE MY DAD HIS MEDS THE WHOLE DAY / NIGHT, despite us paying extra for 24-7 service…. and the food is garbage and in very small portions. It’s crazy expensive too. Update Dec 7 : Today I noticed they didn’t indicated his medication in Wednesday. WHEN I ARRIVED THIS MORNING AT 8:20am TODAY THEY HAD NOT YET GIVEN HIM THe 6am MEDICATIONS Update Dec 9: After 1 week of staying there, the doctor has not yet passed by. On Friday I asked when the doctor will pass by, they told me Monday (today). Today I asked again and they said they don't know , then they said Friday, maybe. HORRIBLE experience. My family and I have been the most stressed by this experience .

I agree with the positive reviews. My experience with my dad at Vivalis is very positive so far. My sister and I were overwhelmed with caring for our dad at home. He fell in March 2016 and broke his hip. Then suffered a stroke after surgery. We tried our best to keep him home but it got too tough and we were exhausted and always arguing. The staff here at Vivalis is so patient and understanding. I agree with the reviewers about the general manager. He’s amazing! Things are very different since he is here. This is because he has solid experience in health care and nursing and it shows! My sister and i are so grateful to have him and Vivalis, to know our dad is happy and safe and close to home :) (we grew up in and live in West Island).
