Place Lacordaire

It's 5 months my mother 89 years old is at this CHSLD on the 5th floor and extremely disappointed in the service. Employees are very incompetent at least on that floor where the seniors need the most assistance due to all being limited to do things on their own. Some are rude to the seniors and others don't seem interested in their job therefore, don't care about the elders ..they put them in their wheelchairs in front of the tv all day ...some are very heartless. How pathetic! The food is beyond horrible..they feed them the meal for lunch and supper. So if you don't like the lunch meal and you don't eat for supper. Always the same boring meals every week..plain liquid soup everyday. Everyone complains about the food and service. No one cares to do anything about it...they rather throw away the food. My mom has between one to 2 meals a day, often she goes to bed without eating and she can't sleep because she is hungry. I called a few times the director of the residence to complain about food and service and saw no improvement whatsoever. So clearly they want your money only. I sacrificed my life to take care of my handicapped mother but now I had to place her simply because I had no help, never a break and it was getting too much for me. So now seeing how all these elderlies on the same floor as my mom are being treated it breaks my heart you have no idea. Some are helpless. Anyway I will try my best to get better service for these seniors. Sept 2024 - after 2 years of trying to better this residence there is absolutely no hope. I even contacted the CIUSSS for the East End on 2 different occasions and sadly to say they are of no help whatsoever..quite pathetic. I highly recommend to avoid this place if you can...the food is as horrible as always and the service is worse every day. To get anything fixed in your room, you can wait weeks to months. The staff is always changing and quite inexperienced.

My experience with Place Lacordaire for the past 2 years has been one of professional staff from nurses, orderlies to even cleaning staff that cared for my mother, did their best to keep her safe, fed, clean and also free to be herself. A shout out to the recreation staff for their activities. We all have favorite staff that we seem to connect with more but those that are quieter are simply doing their job. I enjoyed chatting with the reception desk staff at the entrance- we chatted as friends do. One negative would be to encourage more presence at the lounge in between rounds, yes sometimes it felt unsupervised. If I observed any needs for improvement-I simply discussed it with the staff. Lastly, our coordinating nurse Yassine- super kind and always supportive and Mme St-Hilaire, the director, is kind, compassionate, and helped me tremendously to adapt/accept my mother's decline. She is professional, cheerful and on top of things. I said my thank you to most of the staff as we recently left. Thank you all.

Lovley services, friendly. The residents are super happy with their meals! Very clean and beautiful!

I’m reading all the negative reviews and in all honesty I can’t begin to comprehend this. Both my parents were at Place Lacordaire , my dad for 1 year and he then passed away and my mom was there for 3 years on the 7th floor…She passed away a month ago. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the place from the orderlies, aux nurses , nurse and administration . I have had the pleasure of meeting some of the most compassionate humans . This is probably one of the most difficult jobs having to care for Alzheimer patients and they always did it with a smile. They treated my mom like it was theirs. Everyone always went above and beyond to ensure she was comfortable and well taken care of at all times . There is no perfect place I am quite aware , but this is a great home and wldnt hesitate to recommend it to anyone. I will be forever grateful for making my mom’s last few years enjoyable. We placed our mom in this center and was disappointed in their way of treating seniors! They pay their employees the lowest basic salary therefore the employees are not that devoted to their work. As our mother lost her ability to do things on her own they didn’t care to be more attentive to her needs! The director has other centres and therefore not very present to see what is really going on in her Center Would not recommend this center
