3.2 / 5My father, who passed away last month, was admitted to this facility via Notre-Dame Hospital for "rehabilitation." (The hospital acted too hastily, but that's another story.) He only spent one day/night there because he was in excruciating pain (a serious spinal fracture). The next morning, I signed a release form with my father to get him out and sent to the hospital urgently... BUT, once in the ambulance, my father confessed something that enraged me, absolutely enraged!! That very morning, before I arrived, he rang the bell to ask for help going to the bathroom. (My father was already disabled, and the pain caused by his fractures often prevented him from moving on his own.) An attendant came into the room, and my father explained that he would need her help to go to the bathroom. She replied, "Well, get up and go." My father explained that without his shoes (specialized shoes for his disability), he couldn't walk and risked falling. Since the shoes were on the wall opposite his bed, the attendant looked at my father, let out a huge sigh, and angrily kicked his shoes before finally leaving the room and abandoning him. This happened in November of last year (2024), and I still feel incredibly angry. As an attendant myself in a long-term care facility, I don't understand how heartless and compassionless people can work in this profession. Why did he only mention the ambulance? He told me he knew I would be furious and that he just wanted to leave as quickly as possible. Why didn't I take action (file a complaint) at that moment? My father spent nearly seven consecutive months hospitalized, undergoing two major back surgeries, and experiencing multiple additional health problems, not to mention the horrific pain his back was causing him. So at that time, my priorities lay elsewhere. My father was a kind, good, and respectful man; he in no way deserved this treatment simply because he needed help using the toilet. NO ONE should be treated like that anyway. I hope the management takes note of this message, and if they are truly concerned about the well-being and proper treatment of their residents, that they will take the time to deliver a message to the staff regarding this kind of completely unacceptable behavior. I can't presume to say whether it's a good place or not, as my father only spent one night there... But experiencing such a situation upon arrival leaves me very perplexed. I'm fully aware that there are bad apples everywhere and that these bad people shouldn't define the entire staff, but management really needs to raise awareness among its staff to prevent situations like this from happening... My heart aches every time I think about it... 💔
Mother-in-law was placed in this horrible understaffed institution. Unattended and false promises by the administration. Food is awful and the cafeteria is nothing special. Not once have I not detected the smell of urine. Just take a look at the old grimy furniture on the first floor. There are better places, do not send your loves ones; they deserve much better.
My ex husband was there for 3 months and finally he is leaving for another place.the food is no good, no cafeteria or coffee for visitors. The nurses are not organized and not professional at all. No transportation. The laundry people lose part of new clothing. They kept a walker for days before they found it, in all, the worst place. They are all grumpy from the reception to the head nurse.
A+++
My mother stayed there a month after arm operation, we were very happy with the service. Very kind staff, everybody very nice and helpful. I used to take her food most of the time, cause she didn't like the food there. There's a small fridge in the room, that helped a lot. I payed for a TV in the room, it's 25$ /week, it's too expensive, but at least she had some entertainment. Thank you all for the support and love! Merci a tous!
